S&T in Spain
What is the current state of S&T in Spain?
Guess Santandar/BBVA have the biggest operations, but curious to know what products they trade, what type of profile they tend to hire etc

Bump
My understanding is that the bigger EU trading desks are in Paris, Milan and Frankfurt with stronger focuses on forex and fixed income compared to US desks. I haven't heard anything about Spainish desks but I would assume Santander has a fairly strong trading wing, but also that on the whole, for tax reasons, S&T is rather sparse in Spain.
Thank you. Any idea why the focus on Fixed Income / FX in the EU trading desks?
I'll caveat this by saying that there are some big equity trading desks but there are 2 main factors bumping up fx and fixed incomes. 1. Copying London's fx mecca status and providing EUA access to trading currency which isn't needed as much in US given the oil dollar. 2. History of a stronger DCM market in Europe and market dynamics which favor global fixed income over equities
Nada de nada, complicado meterse, muy pocos sitios
And what about those few slots - are they in all asset classes or typically fixed income (EU government debt I guess)?
