S&T London Opportunities as Summer/Graduate analyst

Hi everybody.

Since the 2025 summer/graduate analyst application season is opening, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what are my odds to pass the CV screening part for S&T (more trading than sales). I have a 6 month internship in structured products sales at UniCredit (Investment Certificates and Leverage Derivatives) and I am currently doing another Off-Cycle at BNP in EQD and Solutions Sales (leverage and funds).

Is it enough experience? Is BNP useful in the CV?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, having internships at UniCredit and BNP Paribas can significantly bolster your CV for S&T roles, especially in trading. Here's how your experience aligns with what's typically sought after for S&T positions:

  1. Relevant Experience: Your 6-month internship in structured products sales at UniCredit, focusing on Investment Certificates and Leverage Derivatives, provides you with a solid foundation in financial products. This experience is highly relevant as it demonstrates your understanding of complex financial instruments, which is crucial for trading roles.

  2. Diverse Exposure: Your current Off-Cycle internship at BNP in EQD and Solutions Sales (leverage and funds) adds another layer of relevant experience. It shows that you have exposure to equity derivatives and solutions, which are key areas in many trading desks. This diversity in your internship experience can make you a more attractive candidate.

  3. Brand Value: Having names like UniCredit and BNP Paribas on your CV adds significant value. These are well-recognized institutions in the financial industry, and having experience at such firms can be beneficial during the CV screening process. It signals to potential employers that you've already been vetted and trained by reputable firms.

  4. Skill Set: Beyond the brand and the roles, it's crucial to highlight the skills you've developed during these internships. This includes technical skills (e.g., financial modeling, market analysis), soft skills (e.g., communication, teamwork), and any specific trading or sales strategies you've learned. Tailoring your CV to showcase these skills in relation to the job description can further improve your chances.

In conclusion, your experience at UniCredit and BNP Paribas should serve you well in the CV screening for S&T roles, particularly in trading. To maximize your chances, ensure your CV clearly articulates the relevance of your experience to the trading role you're applying for, emphasizing any achievements or specific projects you've worked on. Networking and reaching out to professionals in the industry for advice and potential referrals can also be a significant advantage in the competitive S&T landscape.
