As someone who has worked in regional offices for S&T at BB (both on west coast and midwest presence is much smaller but depends on the asset class). Most banks have offices in Boston, Chicago (Midwest HQ), San Francisco (West Coast HQ) and Texas (most Energy Trading). Some of the large BB like JPM, GS and Citi have a small trading floor presence in LA. If you are more interested in trading most of the headcount is in NYC and typically sales desks are the only ones that have people in the regional offices due to specific client coverage (i.e. much easier to meet the client in person than constantly flying back and forth from NYC).
