Stating late at S&T

Hello everybody,

My life has been messed up by several incidents which have made me graduate from college at 29 in 2024. I got a S&T SA internship in a BB next summer when I will be 28. I would like to know how difficult my life will be to navigate S&T being much older than the average.

Agree with the above, I mean I assume you'll be able to easily make friends with those your age and it's not like work is the only place you should have friends. I'd argue they're your co-workers first and while you can enjoy working with them and being a good colleague it doesn't mean you have to be best friends with the 22-23-year-old analysts there if you have different hobbies. If the bank likes you and gives you the shot here then this is an awesome opportunity and if anything having that extra level of maturity and hopefully understanding for the role and work-ethic should be an added benefit. Additionally maybe you can relate more to the seniors as well.

I “broke into” S&T FO at 35.  The narrative that you are done if you don’t get into FO straight out of university is wrong, and is a very good way to become disgruntled and miserable (much less so for people like you already in FO than those still on the sidelines).

You may not make associate or VP as young as some of your colleagues, but nothing stops you at your age from being a desk or department head at some point in your future.
