Stock Index Futures

Stock Index Futures are probably my favorite product in all of trading. This single instrument, in particular the advent of the Emini contract forever changed the marketplace for indepedent retail traders. I personally have done trading in them and with sporadic results. My question is do banks give index futures their own desk. While derivatives are often regarded as more quantitative i personally dont see how this applies to stock index futures as much. Would like to dedicate a thread to stock index futures.

Aren't you a college student?

How do you trade futures?

You find a broker with a low account minimum, lie about net worth and income and your off to the races. I dont really recommend it because the leverage is so large and your literally glued to the screen watching the position. For me it was the only way to cure the itch to learn more about the market first hand.

Back in college when I was young and stupid, I scrounged up $2000, found a futures broker with no initial minimum, and lied on the application about my income and net worth. Of course you can't trade stock futures with $2000, I did some metals, and soybeans, stuff like that.

Not suggesting or recommending you do that, but, hey, you asked how - that's how. They let me trade.

I currently have an online account with another broker (no lies this time) but being slightly older and wiser, I'm too chicken to put on a trade these days. The volatility is crazy.
