Switching Programs: HELP

Hello all,

I've got a question on a bit of a problem I have. I am looking to secure a 2020 summer analyst position in NYC. I have some connections at a BB on a trading desk. I have met about 10 different people (analysts,VPs, and MDs) and talked to them about the S&T lifestyle and career. I have shown interest and intent to apply to their program. However, through research and networking, I have decided I would rather go into Corp. Banking. Just want some thoughts on how I should approach the situation and basically tell the traders, "Thank you, but I would better fit and succeed in a different sector of the bank." Also, would it piss them off too much to ask if they have any contacts within the bank I could reach out to?
