Taking time off, S&T London/Europe
I noticed that some European banks give their analysts and associates generous holiday packages. Uk standard is usually 20 days off a year, with some banks offering up to 30 days even within the Investment Bank.
Can a junior analyst expect to take these days off?
If not, what is an acceptable amount of holidays in a year?
Cheers
Yes.
There is a mandatory 2-week holiday period annually for every employee in a "risk" position - almost everyone in European banks, including BO. The 2-week thing is actually for compliance reasons (reasoning: if you have any dodgy hidden trades, then when you're out on your 2 weeker, your colleague can discover it), but doubles up as a nice reason to take a 2 week holiday every year
Normally, a max of 10 days of holiday can be carried over to the next year... but you're generally expected to use all of the holidays
