If a conversation could be had without one person trying to claim the other is racist, homophobic, yada, yada, because of their political ideologies then, sure. But that’s just not the world we live in anymore. It’s sad that we are at a point in time where being a conservative (not even a Trump supporter) could hinder your career. But, c’est la vie, this is the world we live in.
On a trading desk you kind of have to if it will affect your market. People can express just about any view as long as its coated in irony and cynicism.
