Tips on moving from buy side execution trader to market making firm
I’ve got 2nd round interview coming up with a trader for prop trading firm (JS/Optiver competitor). I know it’s very structured for intern and grad role (online test, probability, option theory, MM games etc). But I can’t find much info about interviewing process for lateral hire. If anyone who has gone thru the process or in such a seat already can share some insights on interviewing and what they look for, I’d really appreciate.
About myself. Been at a big asset manager for 5 yrs. Intern and then return offer. I’m in London but came from US target school target program (computational finance). The job of being execution trader has gotten really boring and pay is very low. Been wanting to make such a move but find it hard given my experience. And I deeply regret not looking during my senior year and beginning of my career. I do have the quant skills MM firms are looking for but lack the risk taking and management experience.
