To Reneg or not to Reneg

got an offer from a Big 5 (option 1) in the summer, but am interviewing at another, slightly smaller Big 5 (option 2) for a 2026 summer. I might be extending my grad to 2028 from 2027 but i’m not sure. I’d prefer to stay at option 1 if all goes well, but with uncertainty in the industry right now i’m not sure if i should proceed with option 2’s recruitment process, or stop before i dig myself to deep in the recruitment hole. If I get the return offer or rotational offer at option 1, should I reneg if I also get the offer from option 2? Should I see if they’re willing to sign me to the next summer?
