To the admins...and the readers
Trading seems to be a phrase fraught with ambiguity. It's all very confusing, particularly to a young un-interned undergraduate. I was wondering if we could get an FAQ type sticky going to answer some of the questions.
What type of trading goes on in Sales & Trading at an IBD?
What is proprietary trading vs. day trading?
Also explanations of options trading, asset management/hedge fund trading, and execution services?
What are some of the places that have any sort of reputation? What exactly is a "chop shop" in terms of trading?
Perhaps some DOs and DONTs from current traders.
Fell free to add more questions to the list or to post answers.
Another one... what exactly is "quant" or quantitative trading?
investopedia.com is a good starting point.....
why dont you dig through the old posts and try to cobble something together? If you do that I can do my best to correct any inaccuracies.
