Focus on the physical. Understanding what drives product flows and studying how upstream & midstream players react to market conditions is the most fundamental information to learn. Some of the best energy traders are good ol boys who know the physical market extremely well or ex-refinery chemical engineers. If you understand energy and keep up with the market as a whole, the trading intuition should follow
