Trading Desk in the Southeast
It's about time to start looking for a job after graduation and I want to get into trading, preferably for a decent sized bank but I don't think i want to live in NYC. I was wondering if someone could shed some light as to some banks that have desks in the Southeast. I know Robinson Humphrey(SunTrust) in Atlanta, I think BoA has a desk in Charlotte, and Raymond James has something in St. Pete. I didn't know if any BBs had branch/satellite desks located in places other than their headquarters in NYC. Are there any other banks around the southeast that have trading desks that might make a good place to start a career? And I've heard the ceiling as far as pay is a little higher in NYC, but other than that are there any other major differences in going to work for say SunTrust versus a BB in NYC?
To clarify -- if my memory serves me correctly, SunTrust's trading desks are in Chicago. Their sales desks, however, are in Atlanta.
Feel free to correct me if I"m wrong, but I'm fairly certain that's correct.
I'm also fairly sure that Wells Fargo's fixed income desk is in Charlotte, and their equity desk is in NYC
you are wrong...STRH's primary trading desks are in ATL.They have sales people around the country but the primary trading business is in ATL.
I would recommend checking them out. They have a solid S&T platform with a growing IB business as well.
Yea, STRH's trading operation is definitely based in Atlanta. That's really the only one that I am familiar with or know anything about, I was just trying to see what the other options were for trading outside of NYC, preferably in the south.
care to elaborate on the differences of working in trading elsewhere vs a BB in NYC?
