Two part question about trading commodities on my own

Hi all,

I'd appreciate some input on the following questions:

  1. Going into my senior year of college (accepted a FT offer at a BB IBD) and have been trading on Scottrade for 1.5 years and doing ok. For my personal education, I'd like to venture into commodities trading. Can anyone recommend an online discount broke-ass college student commodities trading platform?

  2. There are a ton of restrictions which apply to having a personal trading account while working for a bank, esp. for equities. Do these restrictions apply to commodities as well? I'm guessing so, but I'd be interested to hear from someone who has dealt with this issue.

Thanks.

Assuming you are just really looking for execution platform your best bet is going to be Interactive brokers.

I have used many different platforms for equities/options/futures and interactive brokers is probably the best all around platform out there.

Start there, if you need specific things let me know and i can guide you. I have used many different platforms.
