I know you said it's not career fair, but I have a few questions about networking at this event: What is the "Company Presentation: Eric Lewis, College Job Boot Camp" going to involve? Should you have resumes on hand just in case? Will any firms be taking them? I imagine the people attending will be mostly college students and recent graduates. For recent graduates (who are obviously looking for an entry level job) how would you recommend approaching this event?

I applied to the entry level rotational programs for most of these firms and didn't even get an interview with them so I'm a little pessimistic right now about how much it would help. I've been applying to every trading and relevant position (ie: risk, scheduling) I can find, some interviews, but no offers right now. I had a couple of final round interviews, but I choked. I'm losing the fight so to speak and I'm about ready to say f*** all of this and try out being a professional poker player where I won't need anybody to "give me a break" so to speak and it's a complete meritocracy.

Monty, thanks for your help and honesty. I missed early recruitment for a lot of places, because I was going to do a MFE at UCLA and decided against it in October, because I became sick of school, didn't want to spend $80k, and I honestly felt that my coding wasn't strong enough to where I could be at the top of the class. I'll give it another month or two before I give up the dream, because I know most places have already filled their entry level roles. Although I'm interested in all types of trading, Houston energy trading interests me the most. I'm thinking energy derivatives long term, but I can't be picky at this point, just have to get my foot in the door. I'm going to contact some headhunters before I give up the fight. Good luck with your event monty!
