What is S&T headcount vs IBD?

I'm primarily interested in IB, but I'm also interested in S&T as well, therefore I was wondering what the headcounts are like for each division, and whether in the current market it would be wiser to apply mainly to S&T SAs?

S&T, at least in my experience, is run pretty lean at the junior level because it is not a two-and-out business like IBD as people tend to stay longer to maybe even make a career out of it.  I would advise you to focus primarily on IB if that's what you want to do and you do not have a quantitative background because a lot of the hiring at the junior level in S&T is focused on chemistry with the team and skillset while IB is probably a much more generalist experience.
