When did you all get your own book of risk to manage in S&T?

Curious the timeline for those in S&T to manage their own book. Have heard it varies but have had some people on my team here say they didn't really have the opportunity to really take on much of their own view for risk and some who are the same tenure who were helping hedge and had their own views.

Depends on your desk as well as what product you are in. But I started putting on my own prop trades within a few months of my first year, but I didn't really have my "own line" in P&L until my second year. I've also had friends that never really got to that point and then left the industry before making VP.
