Working at a foreign bank's NY office
What's it like working at a major foreign bank like Deutsche's or BNP's NYC office? How close are you to the action in terms of how systemically important is the work you do? What role, for example, do the NY offices play in the ongoing eurozone issue?
Most of the internationals are Federal Reserve primary dealers, too. Is that more the focus of the NYC offices, wherein you could basically compare the kind of activity you see to what goes on at Goldman or JPMorgan, for example, the only difference being that the profits go to Europe? Curious.
It's going to vary a lot - the two examples you gave are themselves very different. Deutsche Bank is a leading firm in the states, while BNP is fairly minor.
