Applying for VC jobs after accepting an IB offer
After Summering at an elite boutique I received an offer and was given 24 hours to sign. Obviously, this was not enough time to consider other opportunities so I signed on the spot.
The reason I want to go into IB is to create a path to VC, but now I am seeing lots of VC analyst positions that I think would be a better opportunity given my career goals. I want to apply but don't want the IB to find out and fire me before I start.
The VCs I'm looking at don't have anyone who worked at my IB firm previously. Are the chances that my IB firm finds out low because this is an adjacent industry? And will it look unethical to the VC firms I'm approaching if I've already signed with a different firm?
