Break into VC in Europe

I am from Europe currently working as a engagement manager for a T2 strategy consulting firm in New York. My work is focused on healthcare/ pharma/ life sciences/ MedTech. I am planning to return to Europe next year and have the goal to break into the VC space (does not have to be in the healthcare space). I am curious what folks here think the best way is to approach this goal. For now, I see two options 1) Trying to join a fund right away 2) Join a startup to gain exposure and then pivot into VC after 1-2 years. If anyone has some insights that might be helpful for me, I would highly appreciate your perspective. Happy to provide more info if required. Thank you!
