Breaking into VC or Consulting

Hello everyone, Im a business graduate (2015) from a top University here in Greece (not so reputable outside) with a lowish GPA of 6.62/10 and a GMAT of 720 ( Q 47 , V42) .

I have an internship in Big 4 Audit ( Audit is by far the biggest business segment of Big 4 in Greece), and i will get another one in 2017( Audit or FAS). Also in 2011 i started a business with my father and was in charge of everything except the production until 2015 when my military obligations forced me to find replacements or/and outsource. Also i am a CFA lvl I candidate for Dec 2016

My goal is to break into VC or Consulting . Which schools and programs would enable me to break into these careers in EU? I speak only English/Greek but im a quick learner and ready to take on another language if needed.

Noting that last year i applied to Bocconi International management ( CEMS) and i was accepted but unfortunately my financial situation couldnt allow me to spend 24.000 euro + living costs for 2 years. So budget constraint is leading me away from pretty much any school in London. I was thinking of RSM Finance or SSE (dont know which program). Any help?

Not familiar enough with Euro schools and recruiting so can't say much there.

Only comment here is that I think it's a more common path to break into consulting THEN VC. You don't see a lot of people going straight into VC and doing meaningful work because it requires financial / business experience, just like private equity and hedge funds.

One way to figure out programs that have good placement in consulting is to: 1. Go on linkedin and search for employees of the local office of McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc. (FYI, I don't know if MBB have local offices in Greece, so maybe do a broader search for local = europe) 2. Scan through a bunch of profiles of junior people to see what their background was - which schools did they attend? mostly undergraduate or masters? etc. ==> by studying a good number of profiles you'll get insight into backgrounds and possibly understand how to place yourself better in the process.

sorry for a few things but it may be needed to correct a reality

audit can be the biggest segment but it might not be the most selective segment

not accepting into bocconi - i feel for you, and it seemed like a very difficult decision. at the end of day, recruiting will care less about where you were accepted, but they want you to be the best from your school, at least, if not the best across the applicant pool.

on the flip side, your family business sounds exciting. think about what experiences can speak itself on resume
