Cleantech/Renewable Energy VC
Currently analyst at top oil and gas M&A group. Familiar with the energy PE space and am aware that some have some cleantech/renewable investments. Looking for some firms, specifically VC firms, that are predominantly focused on cleantech. Anyone have any insight on firms, geographies, paths to breaking in? Thanks in advance for the help to those who post.
Limited knowledge here. From my understanding this is just a very hard space for VC right now. Talking to guys like Doerr at KPCB who essentially lost $250M in cleantech, institutional LP's are running away from VC funds saying they're gonna focus in this sector, thus making the number of funds limited.
I'm sure there are strong names out there, and I will leave that list to others, but from what I hear around the industry, 'cleantech' is largely a dirty name for fundraising.
