Corp VC to VC?
Interviewing for a corporate VC position at an internet / software company. I'm interested in CVC but would like to eventually end up in more traditional VC down the line. In an ideal world, I'd leave IB with 1.5 years of experience, work in CVC for 2-4 years, get an MBA and recruit for traditional VC
Do you view CVC and VC as very similar or very different? Is prestige in CVC a big deal or is your deal history all that matters?

I work in CVC now. From looking at the GPs we have relationships with, most backgrounds post-MBA are from strategy or technical roles. From undergrad, most kids come straight through or from a banking program. The work is obviously going to be fairly close at junior level (initial screening, DD, and investment process), but you don't get the same sourcing efforts, which is critical at senior levels. If you want to make the switch, do it quickly.
