Has anyone ever left Equity Sales for regular high performing sales positions?

I was wondering if anyone has done the above? I know equity sales has become the meme of the community, with the effort to result ratio leading to being meme'd into another existence, so has anyone ever dived from ES into software or tech sales to try and break out and do something else? I know the comp can vary wildly, and I know becoming a tech bro by selling for some startup Soylent-fuelled turns a lot of dudes off, but what're your thoughts?
