How difficult to create a big HBO series?
So let's say I have an idea for a show that could be bigger than Game of Thrones. How difficult would it be to even get an idea off the ground and what's the most I could make? My guess is that it's impossible to get those contacts and even more impossible to make millions quickly off an idea like that. Guys like George Awr Awr Mawrtin are the beneficiaries of randomness (there's thousands trying to do that and only 1 makes it, etc).

Mr. George Awr Awr Mawrtin had his books turned into shows. If you have well-written and well-received books under your belt then that should open doors to at least PBS.
George RR Martin wrote a series of books beforehand?
