How important is your investment banking group for growth equity/PE recruiting?
Hi guys, current student here planning to recruit for IB in the spring. I know your group in IB is generally pretty important for buyside recruiting like PE and HF (i.e. M&A vs ECM or something), but how important is it if you want to work in growth equity after? Is there a lot of modeling in growth equity?
For context, I feel like my "story" is very centered around consumer & retail, but many industry groups at banks don't do their own modeling, so I was wondering if it would be better to target M&A as well. However, if most offers are generalist and they do group placements later, does it matter that most of the deals/trends I have are in the C&R sector?
