Industry M&A / VC
What are your views on industry M&A?
I am doing the first half of the summer at a BB IB (Jun - Aug) in their M&A team and have been offered an internal M&A gig at a mega-cap pharma firm (think Pfizer, Roche, Novartis etcc...) for the second half of the summer (Aug - Oct)...this team also handles all of this pharma company's early-stage VC investments and have told me that my role would be split 50/50 with M&A and investments.
I'm not sure whether to take this second gig as I want to become a full-time investment banker but do think that it could provide some useful "industry" experience on my CV...although then if the BB I'm joining for the summer allocate me to an industrial, automotive etc.. team, then I think I'll have a tough time explaining the healthcare industry role.
