They pretty much just make investments in YC companies. Never leading any rounds from what I understand.
For context on why this is important, you learn very little at a VC where you're exclusively following on in rounds. You will not have much exposure to direct sourcing, diligence, or portfolio management because you're a small check / ownership percentage that the CEO doesn't have time to deal with. Most of the work is just reviewing things that the lead investor has done, to the extent they're willing to give you the time. Kind of like a worse version of being at a secondaries / co-invest fund.
