More lucrative: Mining/oil VS. Real estate/property VS. startup/e-commerce?

Hey guys I'm new on this site. Been lurking for time to time occasionally. Currently taking courses now, I'm wondering which of the three industries mentioned in the title is more lucrative for us financial peeps? Thank you!

Maybe for some background, I work in valuation at big four. There wasn't a big four subthread so I posted here!

Hey there, welcome to the jungle! It's great to see a new face around here. Now, onto your question.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, all three industries you mentioned - Mining/Oil, Real Estate/Property, and Startup/E-commerce - have the potential to be quite lucrative. However, the level of lucrativeness can depend on a variety of factors such as the market conditions, your specific role, and the success of the company or project you're involved in.

In the Mining/Oil sector, there can be high rewards, especially if you're involved in successful exploration and production projects. However, it's also a highly volatile industry that can be significantly affected by changes in commodity prices and regulatory environments.

Real Estate/Property can also be very profitable, especially if you're involved in high-value transactions or successful development projects. The best compensated RE/RE Finance firms are often those involved in large-scale commercial and luxury residential projects.

As for Startup/E-commerce, the potential for high returns is there, especially if the startup becomes successful. However, it's also a high-risk industry, with many startups failing to generate a profit. But if you're part of a startup that hits it big, the sky's the limit.

So, in a nutshell, all three industries have the potential to be lucrative, but they also come with their own unique risks and challenges. It's all about finding the right fit for your skills, interests, and risk tolerance. Hope this helps, and don't hesitate to swing by if you have more questions!
