Routes to VC Consultancy Post-Retirement
Hello All,
Is it possible to get into a low-stress finance consultancy position as I near retirement, having no direct IB or finance background? Ph.D in biochemistry and MBA from UCI with 30+ years experience in life sciences. Experience is mostly in smaller niche companies (<$200mm revenue) doing contract procurement, business development, commercialization. Have experience from Life Technologies when they were acquired by Thermo for $13bn.
Always had an attraction to do VC lacked the capital to start anything myself. Through my partners decision, I missed out on a deal which would have made me billionaire roughly 20 years ago (not related to aforementioned acquisition). Having now been in strategic BD for biotech since then, I would like to know whether VC/PE as a consultant for semi-retirement is possible?
