VC to Corp Dev?

Currently in a VC job. I’m getting some interest from Corp Dev teams at well-known large corps that would pay me 3x what I’m making now.

If my goal over the next 10 years is optimizing for compensation and job prestige, would it be smarter to get another job in VC or jump to Corp Dev?

Optimizing for prestige is kinda dumb - it doesn't matter and it's super subjective (is FB corp dev more or less prestigious than KPCB? IDK. For one thing, way more people have heard of FB, especially outside of finance/tech).

Also, not all VC is the same. If we're just talking comp ceiling over the next ten years, then it's probably something like name brand VC > name brand CD > no name CD > no name VC but those last two might be interchangeable.

Is your role in VC undesirable because the name brand sucks, or because the role sucks? If the latter, then it may be possible to move upstream to another well known firm. If it's a no name VC firm, it might be beneficial to get a good brand on your resume, but it's still a tough call since I would generally say that it's easier to stay within a sector/role if your end goal is there anyway.
