Would I be fcking myself by not doing banking out of college?
I'm a nontarget and I accepted a summer internship offer from a mid-tier growth equity firm. Not unknown by any means but def not GA. The firm typically extends return offers to interns.
Before I accepted the offer, I wanted to be at a hedge fund (I've interned at one) I'm worried that by skipping banking, I'm pigeonholing myself into VC/Growth. I interviewed at several top-tier BBs and an EB, and even some top-tier buy-side firms but struck out, due to not being polished, especially on the technical side of things.
I'm excited about my offer but I can't help feeling like I settled a bit. I think I'll like growth (didn't even know what it was before I interviewed for the firm) but if I don't, how hard will it be for me to move to HF/PE from my analyst position?

Probably L/S, but wouldn't mind something like macro or arb. I could see myself in growth/vc as well, but I'm worried about lower comp. not to be greedy, but money was my reason for entering this field mostly so it's a big concern.
