Accepted back office position with Goldman PWM- Possible to make switch to front office?

Greetings,

I just accepted a position for a back office front office.

I know that making this switch is a seriously daunting task, and many fail at getting it done. Does anyone have any tips or insight as to how I can make this happen?

I'm willing to go to as many networking events as needed and to stay late every day to prove myself.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks,

"stay late every day to prove myself"

I doubt that will help you to land a role in FO. FO guys rarely value BO experience, why would they value your overtime there? I suggest putting more ephasis on networking, and make sure you do not solely rely on your manager when it comes to referrals because you have to pull it yourself.

Like someone already mentioned, you could aim for FO roles at smaller shops.

Everything is possible if you've got gumption. lol.

Seriously though...don't get stuck on whether something is conventional or possible or not. Learn the skills required for where you want to be and network the shit out of everyone you know. Hustle. Don't ask a board full of powertrip retards (generalization) if your dreams are possible. If you need to ask the question, I doubt you've got gumption. Good luck.
