Big 4 TAS or GS PWM for transition into IBD
I'm currently a sophomore at a non target school looking to eventually work in IBD. I've been offered an internship at a Big 4 in TAS and at GS in PWM, which is the best opportunity?
GS PWM will open you more doors for IBD internships in the future. Start crafting your IBD story. People orgasm just reading GS. No joke. You're in good shape.
Honestly, I believe big 4 TAS will help you develop a more relevant skill set. Is the GS PWM a small branch? I would say its easier to find a PWM internship in the fall than it would be to find a big 4 TAS.
If you have another shoot for internship next year, GS can be a good choice since it gives you the name and it will be more than enough to competenfor future internships. If you do not have another shoot for internship Big 4 TAS (especially if it is corporate finance or restructuring over pure transaction services) will be a more relevant experience since rhe job would be the same than in banking. Anyway, it is difficult to turn down GS also because PWM can have the perfect work life balance.
Anyway, does GS have a family business advisory desk in their PWM practice which provide m&a advisory such as those at UBS or JPM PB?
GS PWM is much better. Big 4 is not even close. Disclaimer: I worked for Big 4 company before.
