The process for managing retail investors money:
1) Ask the investor's goals (needs and time horizon) 2) Get a sense of their ABILITY to bear risk vs their WILLINGNESS to bear risk 3) Ask about any constraints (liquidity, tax, etc) 4) Form investment policy (Generally... Older = more risk averse, higher need for income; Younger = less risk averse, higher need for growth)
