PWM and Ops Internship - Overkill?

I have done a summer Ops internship and am looking to get into IBD.

If I have the opportunity to take a part-time unpaid PWM internship during my junior year, should I take it? Or do PWM internships show the same qualities as Ops internships in the context of getting an IBD SA (brand name, showing early interest in finance etc.)?

While I know that adding things to your resume is always a good thing, there probably will be costs (lower GPA, no time for anything else etc.)

Would love to get the opinion of those in IBD..

kidflash:
Gun for boutique IBD instead of PWM.

Yeah I've sent around a lot of resumes, no positive responses so now I'm going to start cold calling boutiques.

If that doesn't work out though (and there's a massive possibility that it won't), would BB PWM be a good idea for junior year if I already have BB Ops?

I am going to call my kids Ctrl, Alt and Delete. That way if something is going wrong I can beat them all at once.

honestly you would be surprised on who knows who. a couple kids from my school did internships for BB in boston and are currently working on wall street right now because of their networking. ultimately it doesn't hurt to have more internship experience

I think that it could though, given the potential costs... thus, the BB PWM would need to be worth something more than what my BB Ops experience was; would love to get in with a boutique.

Anything could happen, and I'm not saying don't do the internship. You just need to dampen expectations. That is not a common route to a banking job.

bump...

what do you other monkeys think about the benefits of PWM (addition to resume, some valuation work) vs. the costs (extra strain during recruiting season, lower GPA etc.) when you consider I have BB Ops?
