Bulge Brackets are not all "cutting their PWM divisions". Wealth management as a financial service has a duality of value for Banks. In addition to making money, it is one of the key indicators of a banks repute. AUM is a commonly quoted measure of prowess, and banks with "shrinking" or less than premier PWM division do have a notable figure to quote. Lets not forget that money at the end of the day is a confidence trick, unsurprisingly then the banks that are most able to manage their clients money, pull in the whales. PWM in my opinion is the best division of the bank, with relationship management being my dream role. Keep cold calling boutique firms in my opinion, it is much easier for someone to ignore an email then say no to you on the phone. The conversations are usually awkward but as Tim Ferriss says "you can often judge your potential for success by how many awkward conversations you are willing to have"

Just one guys opinion
