I'd like to know if most of the PWM internships are paid. Do they state this right away or how do you find out? I'm talking about positions not posted online, especially those in smaller, local firms.

Most are unpaid.
Had friends who interned in NY for PWM at headquarters that were paid and others who were at outside offices unpaid. It depends.
Typically, it is unpaid. Some smaller firms usually reimburse interns with lunch or travel expenses, but majority are unpaid.
