PWM Woes

Hey All,

I'm new to this forum so go easy on me. I went to what you would call a semi-target undergrad business school and had about a 3.5 gpa coming out of undergrad. I really messed up with recruiting as I failed to grasp the importance of networking. On the other hand, I never had my sights set on something ambitious like IB or HF. I really just wanted to find something I enjoyed and could make a decent living off of.

Fast forward to now and I was able to get a temp to hire job at a Wealth Management firm in Boston. It's a great company, but I don't see much potential for me to move upwards. I got the job primarily because I got a rec. from a family friend who's an advisor there. While this could be in my head, I because of this the manager just views me as an entitled young kid who doesn't know anything. I feel this way because after a year, instead of fully hiring me they've just sort of let me stay on but continue at my anemic hourly pay (With no real title). Eventually I'll be able to take the 7 and 66 and be on my way to maybe having a career in this but I'm not so sure.

The good news is I have updated my resume with the current experience and actually been able to get some decent interviews. I've also sucked it up and stopped being shy long enough to actually reach out to people. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for a good potential next move. I've learned to really love investing and honestly all I want to do is become a great investor (I'm just your average compound interest lover). I think the most likely path would be to get into an entry-level equity research role. I'm registered to take the CFA level 1 in December which might give my prospects a little boost, although December is quite a ways away. I'm really ready to push myself as I hate the feeling of stagnation and lack of preparedness for top notch job opportunities.
