Sophomore Spring PWM Internship?

Hey all,

I'm a Finance sophomore at a semi/non-target (top 25) b-school looking to get into I-banking.

The spring semester is coming up and I don't want to spend it without getting some real exposure before doing an IBD internship during the summer. I'm not in New York, but I'm in a major city, so options are limited.

Right now I think the best thing I can do for the spring is take a local PWM internship at MSSB or ML. What do you think? I want to maximize my time in addition to rigorous networking, reading, and studying.

What did you guys do during your sophomore years in terms of real-world exposure? I know PWM is looked upon as a joke in IBD, but what do you monkeys suggest I do to maximize my time? Any place else I can work?

Thanks

Vilma:
For a during the school year internship, absolutely. You're a sophomore, PWM isn't a joke at this stage.

Thanks. Is there any other type of internship I can pursue? Anything else I can do in terms of real-world experience?

My sophomore spring I did a CorpFin internship at a F100 company, but a PWM internship is not bad at all for a sophomore. If this was your junior or senior year, much different story.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

As has been noted, PWM or Corp Fin at a F500 are both very good internships to have as a sophomore, especially during the school year. It shows an interest in finance, and about the only thing better you could do is to snag a BB sophomore rotational or MM IBD internship during sophomore summer.
