2019 Full-Time Recruiting Recommendations
Hey, everyone, I would appreciate any insight,
I am going to be a fifth-year senior with only one semester left at a non-target school. Transferred there after playing college basketball elsewhere for a year and transferred due to a blown out knee. I am Double-Majoring in Finance & Management with a minor in Sales. My Junior summer I went to Madrid, Spain and completed an internship with a start-up. This summer I am interning with a private commercial equipment financing company with a portfolio fluctuating around 100 million.
I understand Full-Time recruiting is coming up very quickly and have started reaching out to Analysts and Associates from banks in Chicago (Where I would like to go). Any recommendations on banks in Chicago. I am leaning more toward EB and MM knowing those are my best chances without going too low.
I need to make a plan for my upcoming years and into the start of my career. I am looking for suggestions from anyone who has gone through the same type of situation.
Thanks in advance
Bump,
Any input?
Lincoln International, Baird, William Blair, Houlihan Lokey, Duff & Phelps, Peakstone Group, KBW, InterOcean Advisors, Livingstone, as well as most of the BB. That is just off the top of my head though.
Thank you! As for recruiting for these size banks does it get delayed a bit compared to the BB banks? I have also read there is not as much FT hiring as they hire interns.
Correct, there are not that many FT spots at any bank, as they would rather hire interns. However, there will always be a few but you must be networked in with the bank to have a decent chance.
In terms of recruiting for FT, it might be delayed slightly, but I would say they will probably be done by September. Once they know how many return offers they are giving out, they will start. I would guess they will know by the end of this month or August at the latest.

Most banks will be running FT recruiting in second half of July and into August (i.e., right now) for summer 2019 start. If you haven't done so already, start reaching out to as many banks as you can with your resume, asking for time to catch up on the FT process. Check career pages. Many banks will have posted job listings for 2019 FT starts. The next 2 weeks are critical as banks make decisions on interns and try to fill out any open slots. Spread a wide net. As others have mentioned, many programs may only have 1-2 open seats. To some extent, FT banking recruiting is a numbers game...
My target banks as of right now are in Chicago. Are you recommending I reach out to bankers via a cold-email or apply to all the open positions possible? Possibly both? Thank you for your help.
