Where do you want to retire?
Also, what do you want to do in your retirement? For me, it’s living somewhere remote in the Rockies where I can fish, hike, and bike. Curious to here some unique places and hobbies.

Hopefully will have places in NYC, SoCal, and a beach house at Sullivan’s Island, SC.
I think I will live to be 117 so planning on doing a lot of living and staying active. I love the outdoors and may still do endurance races.
What do you do Isaiah? I see you all over WSO but don’t know your story.
I’m an aspiring billionaire, just like you.
I don’t want to retire to one place in particular, I want to have a few homes around the world and split my time between them. I’m thinking the UK (have family there), Monaco, Florida, a few other places. I also would like to buy back my grandfathers farm in Pakistan from the people we sold it to years ago. That small farm was in our family for decades and it just feels right to buy it back one day. Probably won’t stay there too much (or at all) but still have family over there and all over the world so it would be a nice place to get together every couple years for a family reunion.
I don’t think I’ll need more than 100m so not too worried. Should be pretty easy.
Ideally retire at an age where surfing is still possible, then get a nice but modest place on the water somewhere — Caribbean type spot. Either that or I’m going straight to Monaco to live out my days sipping espresso and watching F1
Yeah my dream house would be in SoCal, overlooking a good break so that I could just wake up and look at the waves and decide to walk down to the beach to go surfing. #TheDream
My sister has a house near the beach in San Clemente, its sick and pretty decent break.
Would be sweet - just want my own spot. Morning cup of coffee into a few hours of surf seems ideal. East coast has its perks but I do wish there were some more serious spots to get out. Best I've ever had was out on the shore lol
middle of no where in florida maybe
Teaching at MIT, not giving two shits whether students understand me or not and saying whatever the hell I want to say because I'll be 90+ years old and will have more money than God and enough clout to never get fired.
My idea of a retirement is a 30 hour work week but I spend all that time doing research.
this is cool. dear mr chickenman: what does "research" entail for someone like you, keen on doing it for personal fulfillment?
x
south of France maybe
can get cheap chateaus in France in general
dont think id live in Monaco, its a bit claustrophobic
Why the beautiful town of Springfield of course!
What state?
Springfield
I'm far away from retirement age, but if I had the money, I would live on Mustique in the Grenadines or Jumby Bay in Antigua. I'm thinking that, if global warming is truly the problem that so many people believe it is, prices in the beautiful Caribbean countries will be lowered, meaning I can score a nice tropical lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of the United States. Otherwise, if I can't find anything on Mustique or Jumby Bay, I'll settle down in a nice strip of land in mainland Antigua with a home that I planned myself. Hopefully, my future wife and I will enjoy a life of serenity and peace with the azure waters and warm weather of the islands.
"Low quality" my fat white ass...
NYC or DC
ewww DC gross why
Switzerland seems pretty cool.
I've heard the flag is a big plus.
Old-school villa in the Tuscan countryside with enough land to have 3-4 dogs and perhaps a small side hustle like a micro vineyard as well as a good internet connection in case I want to do occasional freelance consulting.
The Caribbean or SE Asia. My goal is to open an American bar in the middle of a foreign country
Let me barback. Met a guy from MA who retired and opened a burger joint in Lagos, Portugual. Goals.
You're hired
Retirement, no thanks that does not compute. I have zero interest in that, I keep moving forward.
You gonna read 10-ks forever?
What makes you think saying never to retire equates to your response? Think and go big.
Fund comfortable retirement then work some random job in a vacation community where everything I earn goes straight to my lifestyle expenses. Realistically something like Charleston or Savannah so I can fly home to see family/friends. I don't think living in SE asia is feasible despite how cheap it is.
Never. I want the last thing I do before I die to be sending my analysts mark-ups.
At that age, you'll be giving crappy scribble mark-ups instead of turning them, but either way, you'll die with IPad in hand
MD material right here
