accelerated sa interviews
I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on the accelerated IBD SA interviews for kids that are studying abroad in the spring semester. I feel like these will be uber-competitive. Has anyone been through this? Success stories? Do any MM banks offer this option?
they're actually easier to get an offer from at Wharton.
well we can't all go to wharton now can we?
bump
What i meant previously is that at least at the Wharton Campus, they are less competitive than regular OCR. I do not know whether or not this applies to other campuses, but i see no reason why it wouldn't.

Do all bulge brackets have an accelerated SA interviews? I know Goldman does but I was wondering if the rest do as well?
the general purpose of accelerated interviews are for people who are going abroad in the spring semester and cannot participate in reguar time interviewing however, if you are not at a target, you virtually have 0 chance of getting in accelerated
this is because accelerated interviews are a highly structured process, and banks want to make sure they are not losing out on talent that wants to go study abroad. generally speaking, accelerated is therefore done through schools, not individuals themselves.
the only bank that accepts accelerated applications from non targets is JPM
That sucks. Also sucks that my school is being insanely shitty to me right now. I was seriously looking into an accelerated 2015 SA process.
Suppose for whatever reason I take the 2014-2015 school year off and extend my graduation to 2017...can I still get 2015 SA interviews?? I'm curious. How bad would that look?
I don't think that's necessarily true....I know a guy at a non-target who got an internship at a top BB in November/December or so
GS does have an accelerated process for students from non-targets, it will not be on your campus but it is up to you to get in touch with the recruiter and tell them you are interested in participating in the accelerated process. That said, I think all the other similar have similar if not exactly the same process in place. Recruiters will get managers to interview you at ANY time- if they think you are a good candidate. Try to find any connection who can forward your resume to the recruiter and stand up for you.
This thread should hopefully help as we move on with the process: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/2015-sa-dates-and-updates
Accelerated recruiting after sophomore BB SA (Originally Posted: 05/25/2014)

Definitely for FT, but I don't know if they offer structured accelerated recruiting processes for junior year summer internships
Accelerated SA interviews exist. They're usually offered to those who will be studying abroad in the spring.
Do y'all know when is the usual deadline to accept a return offer?
And if I'm not studying abroad but just want to find another offer, how would I go about getting an earlier interview?
Accelerated SA Recruiting vs. normal OCR (Originally Posted: 08/27/2014)
Other than potentially getting an offer earlier, what are the benefits of accelerated recruiting? I'm definitely committed to finding a banking internship this summer so locking myself into something before seeing other options isn't an issue for me. I'm worried that if I do accelerated recruiting, I might get passed over to leave room for potentially more qualified candidates who apply via normal recruiting, where as if I wait for normal OCR, the banks will have a better idea of how many people they need. Am I overthinking this?
You realize this can work the other way around too right? Never underestimate the competition, I'd apply now.
Didn't think of that. Thank's for your quick response. I definitely will apply asap.

Does anyone have any familiarity or info on an accelerated SA recruiting? I know there are some things in November, but is that the earliest for all the BBs? And does anyone have any info on how to handle SA recruiting with an exploding offer? Anyone have success in getting HR to expedite things?
Thanks in advance.
I think GS is the only one that does this...other firms not too sure. but if your connected i heard its easier. heard someone from my school talked to a MD at DB and the MD loved him and this guy got an offer on the spot.
Goldman is done.
they filled SA class of 2014 back in 2011
But really, this may for FT only, but isn't it heavily frowned upon to do accelerated and then shop the offer?
Take back what I said, thought this was for Accelerated FT. Got nothing on accelerated SA.
Is accelerated SA recruitng "easier" than conventional (Originally Posted: 12/11/2013)
Statistically, if you are a candidate going through accelerated recruiting, are your odds for receiving an offer higher than those going through conventional recruiting?
Also, in general, are accelerated interviews easier than the large interview pool in the later months?
Hell no. Think about it, those in an accel process, either have exploding offers, are exceptionally strong candidates, or have connections in the bank (Daddy is MD), that they have no reason to wait for regular recruiting. There are some select cases that it can be easier such as programs for minorities though...
i think so.
I went through accelerated for SA recruiting, and then the normal process for FT recruiting this past fall. I honestly didn't notice a difference between the difficulty of the interviews, questions asked, number of interviews, etc. The differences I noticed were; HR was much more accommodating during the accelerated process, there were more candidates with "connections," in the accelerated process, and almost everyone in the accelerated process had multiple offers/superdays where it was probably clear to the bank that they needed to wrap up the candidate early.

I'm currently a junior months away from bulge bracket summer analyst recruiting and I keep hearing about "accelerated recruiting" cycles that many bigger banks have. There isn't too much info about this on the WSO forums so I was wondering if any of you had specifics about how to get included in this process and which banks actually participate.
It's generally organized between the banks and the respective campus career centers. They'll send a list of their top candidates and we invite them to events etc to poke around and see if they're okay. Not sure about the US but all of the banks do it in Canada. The banks have an agreement among on another to not do any accelerated unless if with a previously engaged candidate so right before the cut-off they hold all of these events so that they can check the box on having a previous relationship with the candidate.
Same shoes here. Don't know about your school but my school (target) campus recruiting starts pretty soon this year and will wrap up all interviews early Nov. Career office said offers will be made before Thxgiving. So chances are everyone (BB) is following suite since GS launched early round last year and snatched the best of the class from every school
Accelerated rounds are pretty much done in the US.
Accelerated SA Application (Originally Posted: 10/29/2010)
Do accelerated applications give you a better chance for SA recruiting as opposed to the regular January app? I am contemplating whether to apply now or wait until January. Do they take the same number of kids or % of applicants? Any ideas? Thanks for the help guys.
I wouldn't, heard from a recruiter it's mostly for sophs who had exploding offers... so unless you have a stellar resume, you'll likely be put on hold or get rejected...
Accelerated SA? (Originally Posted: 12/25/2012)
Hope you all are enjoying the holidays. Long story short, I am studying abroad this spring (leaving in early February) slightly before the final round interviews are scheduled to take place. This is after OCR at my school for first rounds. Would MBB (and maybe some smaller firms, Parthenon, OC&C) do accelerated final round interviews for candidates or is this unheard of? If anyone can share any insight into their own (or someone else's) experiences that would be awesome. Thanks for your help guys.
Definitely not unheard of, reach out to HR and they will bring you in early (most likely)
Thanks for the advice! When would be the best time to let them know about my circumstances? Before the entire process, after receiving a first round interview, or after having the first round interview (likely in mid/late January).
