Accepted return offer and continue interview?

Hey guys I did a summer intern at BB, and accepted the full time return offer in the S&T division. However, I just received an email from one of the best hedge funds in the street regarding the interview of a trading/investing position. (DE Shaw/ Millenium) In the email, they are asking me to confirm whether I have any exploding offer.

I really wish to work at the hedge fund, but would worry that saying I have accepted another offer jeopardize my application process. However, if I do not disclose about having accepted offer, the hedge fund might find out about it during the background check by calling up my previous employer.

What actions should I take in this case? Can you give me some advices? Thanks !

It’s a risky move to continue interviewing after accepting an offer. If your HM at the BB finds out then you could risk losing both opportunities. Do you really value the position at the HF that much more than the offer you’ve already accepted at the BB? If so, why? If it’s just for prestige then it’s probably not worth it. You could always transition to that HF a couple years down the road without risking your reputation in the process.

However, I definitely understand what you must be feeling and I wish you the best of luck in deciding.

Yes, I understand that it is risky... But does S&T still gives as a good exit opportunities into investment types of roles in the hedge fund? How easy is it to transition into a hedge fund ?

That is my intention. But the question is should I disclose that I have accepted an offer? Even if I don't disclose, they might find it out during the background check.

Even if I have not mentioned anything to HF, they might find out during the background check that I have reneged an offer to take them right? Would that result in something negative?

And the moment the HF starts background check and call up the BB, the BB would know as well. That is why I am so unsure what to do.
