Advice for breaking into S&T

I am looking to transition into S&T on the sales side. I don’t have direct finance experience at all but I do have sales experience. Is there any chance the hiring managers or recruiters would even consider me or look at my resume coming from outside of the industry? Or am I just wasting my time applying? I have about 2.5 yrs of sales experience and would be looking for an an entry level sales role on a trading desk. I’m also considering getting an MBA in finance and the applying.

Something like [GS early careers – Sales] is something you should take a stab at. Program designed precisely for career switchers with not a lot of work experience.

To go back to your question it will be hard to network in, particularly at a top bank. Especially if you have no related experience and have no contacts.

I would target MM shops and work your way up from there. Or maybe the experienced hire programs.
