Allen Edmonds for Business Casual
First of all, would either of these be appropriate for business casual at a BB?
Thinking about either:
- Allen Edmonds Modena ($295)

or
- Allen Edmonds Walden ($225)
http://www.endless.com/Allen-Edmonds-Mens-Walden-…
I'm slightly leaning towards the Walden because they look more "traditional" and are a tad cheaper. On the other hand, the Modenas are "Made in Italy" (if that means anything) and have a different, more modern look. What do you guys think?
Thanks
Wearing my AE as we speak.
Walden look Goodyear constructed, not sure about the Modenas.
If you have to pick one of the two, I would go for the Walden's, hands up. Prefer the look, the price and construction. Get some decent shoe trees with the 60$ diff.
Not to change the subject, but what do you guys think of Johnston and Murphy? I love both their dress and casual shoes. My personal favorite are their Dawson Cap Toe in black for dress and moc toe in brown ("mahogany") for casual:

I think Allen Edmonds make some of the finest shoes, but I don't particularly like the ones you have chosen. So, my opinion is to go with something else by AE.
Thanks for the help guys.
TraderNY- which ones would you recommend for slip-ons then? Randolphs? A little out of my price range though... http://www.endless.com/Allen-Edmonds-Mens-Melrose-Slip-On/dp/B0015GQ93U…
How about the Melrose? http://www.endless.com/Allen-Edmonds-Mens-Melrose-Slip-On/dp/B0015GQ93U…...
I'm not too keen on J&M, I would look for discounted AEs if I were you.
Pecking order: AE
My office is business casual, but I still prefer laces over slip-ons. I wear AE Park Avenues - a great shoe.
If you're in New York, head down to Stapleton on rector and broadway. They have some good shoes and have an ongoing 50% off on second pair.
Look for them on sale!
Happened to be at Nordstrom Rack looking for some jogging pants and a few things... Happened to check the shoe aisle not expecting to find anything to my liking.
Ended up picking up a pair of Allen Edmonds Oxfords for 185 (regular 325)..
Make sure you get Allen Edmonds shoe trees for AE shoes.
Any idea on where to get some for a good price? The going rate seems to be 25$ on amazon..
I need to pick some up asap.. Looked into them as soon as I got the shoes, just never pulled the trigger
Yeah shoe trees for AE arent cheap, but they are made to fit the shoes, which is why you should buy the brand's shoe trees (AE, Cole Haan, etc.)
I'd get the $25 ones, sign up for their mailing list, and wait for their sales. Build a collection over time. If you take good care of them, they'll last a long time.
Try not to wear them on consecutive days so the moisture can get out of the leather.
Thanks for all the help guys- will def wait for sales and try to look for shoes well worth the investment
Just copped a pair of AE Park Avenues- have to say this is one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Thanks guys
How much did you pay? I feel like AE Park Avenues are never on sale anywhere.
Have a Jos A Bank corp discount & gift card there so not really a sale
Allen Edmonds makes some damn good shoes. They are one of only two large American shoe manufacturers left. Everything else is made in Mexico, China, etc... AE's can last you years and years if you take care of them properly. They're an investment so don't feel too bad about shelling out the $$$. I have the Waldens and wear them at least twice a week. I'd buy the Park Avenues (So classic), Graysons (Tassel), and a pair of the Mcclains (Wing Tip) also.
Which is the second? Alden?
Yep. Alden.
What do you guys think about the Presidio?

I really like them, but should I go for a shoe with leather soles? The soles on these are rubber, and I don't really know the difference but people seem to think you should only go with leather.
I actually just got a pair. They're well-received and I really like the sole- it's not cheap rubber and AE definitely put the proper work into the sole construction (they're recraftable too). Very comfortable, looks great, and it's a nice calf leather
