Am I swimming upstream? Should I float downriver?
I am 27 years old and have been working for a midcap non-financial company as a financial analyst for a couple years. I have a business degree from a non-target state school with a 3.4 GPA. I am also currently working on a Masters of Science in Financial Analysis at a reputable but still non-target private college. My graduate GPA will likely be around 3.8. I would like to get into investment banking but don't know if I have positioned myself well enough up until now. So I guess my questions are:
-Would I have a chance applying to a boutique IB after I finish my graduate degree straight in as an Associate?
- Is my MS basically worthless in the IB world and therefore I should plan on being trying to be the oldest living IB analyst and then obtaining my MBA?
-Would my chances be helped if I obtained my CFA designation?
I know I'm throwing darks here folks, but I would appreciated any advice or help you can offer. Tell it to me straight, I can take it. Thanks a lot.
