Any books to read for an incoming equity research summer associate?

Any book recommendations relating to equity research?

I've read quite a few of the investment classics (particularly value investing), so I'd prefer something more specific to equity research.

Yeah I'd heard about this. I'm currently working my way through 'valuation' by McKinsey, and I've heard there's quite a lot of overlap between the two.

Though I'll probably get round to reading it eventually anyway.

Cheers.

Wall Street Meat is an interesting book that details the ins and outs of equity research during the tech bubble. I had to read that for my internship and found it rather insightful with interesting anecdotes. Discusses Blodget and all ofthose other high profile analysts at that time.

Smokey, this is not 'Nam, this is bowling. There are rules.

If you're looking for something like a textbook, there's Equity Valuation: Models from Leading Investment Banks (Wiley). I don't have experience with it, but it's supposed to be a good introductory text that covers basically everything while balancing theory/practice. For industry analysis, I guess the best thing would be a corporate strategy book, or a book about each sector you cover. There are also good websites (including government sites) that track important news, indicators, and trends, but of course the specific site will depend on the sector. Also, remember that while good analysis is important, great writing also makes a big difference in the report's quality. While they're not something that can really help you overnight, some business writing books might help. Just a thought.
