Any insight on PJ Solomon NYC?

I know they are known for consumer / retail but they seem to really be growing their analyst program / UG recruiting in recent years after being bought by Natixis.

Does anyone have insight on how their analyst program would compare to others in terms of culture or exit ops since they are relatively lesser known? Looking at their website they seem to have worked on some solid deals (although nothing too large) but there is very little info about them on WSO, especially since they rebranded from PJSC. I attend one of their target schools but am unsure about recruiting there versus larger banks.

Feel free to PM me if preferred

Talked with a more senior guy there some time ago. He had just jumped ship from a BB to join the firm.

He really emphasized the firm's culture, said it was A+. Can't remember much else, and don't know a whole lot about their deal flow.

if you look at the vault guide on them, you can see they're pretty vocal about their culture and work-life balance.

i turned them down for a BB because of exit opps last cycle though. look around on linkedin, but if analysts do exit, it's mostly to MM groups. I think one may have went to GTCR. this forum always seems to have a hard-on for boutiques but I personally value having brand name on my resume to begin my career.

Thanks for the input.

Interesting you mention the vault guide, as I saw they are ranked really well on there and was curious how accurate it may be (#13 overall, #2 for work/life balance, etc).

Definitely see your point about exits -- from what I can see they place pretty well in MM PE but there's also a good amount of people who have stayed there from Analyst -> Associate and above. Do you think the exits just aren't available or people truly want to stick around?

I'm not sure. Still in college, but I'd imagine the limited sample of exits is probably a combination of the two (people want to do A->A and people not being able to exit).

If I were to guess, PJSC isn't really high up on headhunters' radar. I've always thought it was a good firm and I liked the people I interviewed with, but I personally believe that brand name is important early on when it comes to PE opportunities.
