Do you have an internship of any type for this summer
had one, got cancelled. The university wouldn’t allow another one because of “CPT guidelines” for international students. Have an in-school professional development program though

new user, have to wait two days, can you send a message?
Reached my limit. Will dm tomorrow.
Just comment again in the morning to remind me
there’s something wrong with my dms. can you still not dm others?

Start preparing for interviews. Sophomore summer recruitment for NYC starts late summer for some firms, so get started on that too
perfect, thanks!
Whats the best way to prepare for sophomore recruitment if from a non/semi target
Be black or a woman
I think lateraling is the best way. I've looked through this forum and am in the same spot as you except I'm lucky my pwm internship isn't canceled. After this internship, I'm going to switch to the firms AM group and I'm going to continue to network with local banks and reach out to alumni there. I go to Michigan State so even though it isn't a target, it has a huge alumni base.
Sophomore recruitment is like the Wild West, anything can happen. Know the basic technical/behavioral, but the most important factor is networking. Keep pushing, don’t hesitate to email the CEOs of smaller firms, look where the juniors/seniors of your school went, ask if they can help you, and network, network, network. My biggest advice would be to start by the end of June, I was really late into sophomore year recruitment and had to grind like crazy to get something.
If you’re diverse, look at all the diversity events for the big firms, you could end up going there sophomore year itself and wouldn’t have to go through recruitment again.
I mean as diversity, what else can you do to increase your chances
you ain’t diverse if you an Indian male sadly :(

Whether you’re diverse or not, the prep is the same. the only difference that I saw is that diversity recruiters really care about your background and story, especially how you overcame challenges
ahhaha i am a girl bro

There’s a bunch of threads for diversity recruiting. A lot of those events should start late summer. Make sure you don’t miss them. You could be done before you even start your sophomore year
can you elaborate on this
I'm also an international rising sophomore at a non target, and right now I am just trying to list all the firms that accept cpt. You could prepare for interviews as well.
